Drinking Fountains & Riveras

So, as I was saying Italy was the first European country we visited. It took our breath away.

If only the buildings could talk, I’m sure each would have its own story to tell. Learning a little bit of italian to get by with the locals was a lot of fun – more so since it did overlap with english. Having gelatos in the middle of night, having the sun shine on upon us at even 8 PM and last but not the least the fountains of water that we could drink!

Coming from India where tap water is to be sent through a water purifier to be made ‘edible’ , it was very unusual to drink right out of the pipes by the side of the road!

Walking by the river Tiber after sundown was yet another surreal experience, not to worry about the time or the people or a curfew in my case really gave it a perfect Roman Holiday Experience.

Photo Reference: Attached are 3 photos from our first day there. We walked by the River Tiber and to Piazza del Popolo where we saw the Egyptian Obelix and the Twin Churches of Santa Maria di Montesanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli.

I feel terrible that I have not been regular with the Dog Wood Photography Challenge I had promised to undertake. Though this year seems like a re-run of last, I’ve made it a point to try a whole to strategy.

Strategy not only with respect to my choices regarding my future but also my attitude to life. Being positive gives you a sense of confidence, a sense of accomplishment. I read somewhere that when you enter a match or a race – you need to believe you are the one who is going to win. Not the opponent(s).  The universe does listen.

I also do know it is easier said than done. Somedays are treacherous. So much so that I have to take the day to catch my breath. Such days are lovely to rummage through the old hard drive and find these beautiful pictures.

This was probably our very first international trip. I had my very first digital camera – a Canon Ixus 220 HS. And boy did I go berserk with number of photos I could shoot without worrying about running out of film! I love how many pictures are amateurish and some are drop dead gorgeous that I can’t believe that I could take them.

We went to Italy and did a few sights – Rome, The Vatican, Pisa, Florence, Venice and a small stop at San Gimignano. I’ve attached a few from our first day in Rome.

Despite being as young and naive as I was, I truly felt Florence was a beautiful place that is highly underrated and hidden behind the glory of Rome and Venice. Venice is undoubtedly breath-taking and the little boat ride to the famous Murano glass making factories was simply a cherry on top.

I will find more Throwbacks to add to the Italian collection and hopefully one day make it back there to see Milan and Verona too!

A Different World

There are days I wonder what it would be to live a life that wasn’t my own. 🌬️

Morning Coffee

“I don’t want to be
your entire world, no.
I would be happy
just to be your morning coffee,
your hanging car keys,
your wallet.
Something seemingly
insignificant,
but if lost throws off
your entire day.” – Unknown 🗝️

Candy Colours

Who doesn’t love candy?!

With everyone at home counting their calories it is an impossible task to take pictures of candy. I also do not have past photos of sweets because… well who does that! Chocolates are made to be eaten, not photographed! On a third note, this week’s topic was rather impish – Candy without candy!

I must thank my parents for the success of this week’s homework. Dad because he wanted his pants ‘re-altered’ which made mom take out her entire stitching set. Mom also gave a ton of suggestions on how to add colour and pop to the pics. Finally the baby ballerinas and the bunnies for posing so patiently!

This is my first set of pics I shot this year for the project and I can’t tell you how much I love this slideshow option on the blog! Perfect way to display multiple images. It was so hard to pick one from all the adorable photographs!

Hope you like them and my take on the theme! Leave me a shout out, I do love your feedbacks : )

Cloud Gate

101

I’m happy to say we have entered the 5th week of the year and thus my photography project. I did tweak the projects rules to suit my convenience – in the sense that I’ve been uploading old pics instead of taking new ones!

Forgive me for

  1. I am at a disadvantage : I am unable to take 10-20 shots of an object in varied angles and lights – at this moment.
  2. I have so many pending old photos I should be posting or atleast printing out for myself that this seems like the perfect way to do it!
  3. This is my 2nd or 3rd post of Cloud Gate. #SorryButNotSorry

It is a funny little monument. Set in the middle of Downtown, Chicago, walking distance from the lake, reflecting the city’s marvelous sky line – it surely is a sight to see. It’s as beautiful when covered with snow! Hard to imagine that it is merely a big lump of steel!

This week’s theme was to take 10 different shots of an object. Not only is this the best set of pictures I have but the varied reflections The Bean projects – of the buildings or of the people – seemed poetically apt.

Above is a collage of 9 of my best shots, below is a link of my previous post and last but not least one of the night shots of the Gate
